1. Sunčano podne,
a tuga se zaplela
u dravske vrbe
Sunny afternoon,
and the sorrow entangled
... among the Drava’s willows ...
2. Na toplo sunce
izmiljeli gušteri.
Zeleni kamen.
Lizards have
slithered out in the hot sun.
A green stone.
3. Osniježen vrt.
Skakuću crne točke
kos i kosovka.
Snowy garden.
- Black dots skip up and down -
he and she-blackbird.
4. Za oblak mjesec
pobjegao postiđen.
Bijele grudi!
Ashamed Moon
ran behind the cloud.
White bossom!
5. Nikada nisi
u snu tako lijepa
kao na javi!
You’ve never been
so beautiful in my dream
as in reality.
6. Mesto ftičeka
sem zaprl vu krletku
prgicu sira!
Instead of a birdie
I’ve locked up a small piece of cheese
in the bird-cage.
7. Sveča bu zgasla
kak se bum fest nasmejal.
Dečki, je ne kraj.
A candle will go out
I’ll laugh greatly.
Boys, it is not the end!
8. Ta pahuljica
zaboravlja pasti.
Ledeni leptir.
That flake
has forgotten to fall.
Icy butterfly.
9. Dežd travovabec
postiha škropi, škropi
Zemla zdihava!
Spring downpour
... sprinkles the grasses silently ...
The ground sighing!
10. Zadnji se listek
ni štel doli spustiti.
Da je ne vetra!
The last leaf
did not wish to fall.
If only there was no wind!
