DRAGUTIN ŠTAMBUK
Drago Štambuk rođen je 20. rujna 1950. u sačuvanom krilu spaljene obiteljske palače Štambuk u Selcima na otoku Braču. Gimnaziju je pohađao u Splitu, Medicinski fakultet od 1969. do 1974. u Zagrebu. Specijalizirao je internu medicinu, potom gastrenterologiju i hepatologiju, te zarazne bolesti i kopnicu.
Radio je u londonskim klinikama od 1983. do 1991, kada prelazi u diplomatsku službu i predstavlja Hrvatsku u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu, Indiji, Šri Lanki, Egiptu i inim arapskim zemljama, a trenutno u Japanu i Republici Koreji. Objavio je preko 40 knjiga poezije, eseja, prijevoda i antologija.
Preveden na brojne svjetske jezike. Član je engleskog, hrvatskog i počasni član japanskoga PEN-a.
Prve haiku pjesme objavio je u zbirci Mirula (Jutro poezije, 2005), a Pognuta riža (DHK, 2009) u potpunosti je zbirka trostiha. Dobitnik je posebne varšavske nagrade za Haiku u metrou 2010, a poljski Haiku Forum (forum.haiku.pl) uvrstio ga je na top listu sto najkreativnijih europskih haiku pjesnika u 2010.Pri prvoj Konferenciji azijske literature u Osaki 2011. utemeljio je nagradu za haiku pod imenom Vladimir Devidé.

Drago Štambuk was born on September 20, 1950, in the preserved wing of the burned family Palace Štambuk in Selca on the island of Brač. He has attended Gymnasium in Split and Medical Faculty from 1969 to 1974 in Zagreb, has specialised in internal medicine, then gastreoneterology and hepatology, infectious diseases and AIDS. He has worked in London clinics from 1983 to 1991, and then moved to the diplomatic service of Croatia to serve in UK, India, Sri Lanka, Egypt and many other Arab countries. At the moment he is ambassador of Croatia in Japan and South Korea.
He has published more then 40 books of poetry, essays, translations, anthologies and has been translated into many world languages. He is the holder of numerous poetry awards, English and Croatian PEN member and honourable member of Japanese PEN.
His first haiku poems have been published in poetry collection Mirula (Jutro poezije, 2005), and his last book Bowed Rice (Croatian Writers’ Association, 2009) consists entirely of haiku poems. He is the winner of Special Warsaw Award for Haiku in Metro competition in 2010, and Polish Haiku Forum (forum.haiku.pl) has put him on the top list of hundred most creative European haiku poets.
At the first Asian Literature Conference in Osaka in 2011 he has established Haiku Award named Vladimir Devidé
