1. Vrapčić oklijeva
pružiti nožicu.
Zemlja se smrzla.
Sparrow hesitates
To extend his leg.
Frozen ground.
2. Prazna tržnica
ostaju samo papiri.
A i njih otapa kiša.
Empty market.
Only the papers remain.
Thawing even them, the rain.
3. U naslagama lišća
upisano nekoliko jeseni.
Koliko ih se sjeća stablo?
In the piles of leaves
written are several Autumns.
How many remembers the tree?
4. Ogoljele grane vrbe
tresu se od hladnoće.
Motrim u kaputu.
Striped willow branches
shivering with the cold.
I watch them in my coat.
5. Kroz rijetku
kosu brda prodire
ožujsko sunce.
Breaking through
the sparse hair of the hill
the March sunshine.
6. Na trenutak
izljube se prolaznici
u pogledu.
For a moment
kissing the passers-by
with a gaze.
7. Brazde utiru
put daljini
Pun mjesec.
Furrows blaze the trail
... for the distance ...
The full Moon.
8. Vrućina.
U mnoštvu
djevojka s ružom.
Heat.
In the crowd
a girl with a rose.
9. Pregazih
sjenu ptice
na asfaltu.
I ran over
a bird’s shadow
on the asphalt.
10. Naizmjence se pale
čas krijesnica,
čas zvijezda.
One after another
turning their lights on:
star and firefly!
11. Zlatni mu kljun
umočen u tamu:
svjetlost od perja.
His golden beak
plunged into darkness:
feathers of light.
12. Kljunom do dna vode,
vršcima krila do neba.
Sve je njegovo.
His beak touches the sea bed
tips of the wings touch the sky.
he owns everything.
13. Na obroncima
pasu kamene ovce.
Cesta vodi dalje.
Stony sheep grazing
on the slopes.
The road goes on.
